Job summary

AgeCare is seeking a Personal Support Worker (PSW) to provide compassionate care to residents in line with their care plans. The role emphasizes observing and reporting on resident status, assisting with documentation, and participating in ongoing staff education.

The PSW will support onboarding, follow IPAC policies, and contribute to a safe, respectful, and home-like environment for residents. Salary ranges reflect local wage bands for Vaughan, Ontario.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Personal Support Worker Certificate/Diploma Program.
• Meet the vocational standards established by the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities.
• Meet the standards established by the National Association of Career Colleges.
• Meet the standards established by the Ontario Community Support Association.
• Knowledge of basic sanitation and bedside care for geriatric residents.

Responsibilities

• Observe residents and report findings to supervisor to ensure care aligns with plan.
• Assist in documenting resident information as directed.
• Attend in-service education, staff meetings, and workshops as directed.
• Assist in onboarding of new staff as directed.

The Opportunity

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) is responsible for providing care to residents according to their care plans and assisting in the identification of resident needs. The PSW assists in maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents, visitors, and other staff members.

What You Will Do

• Assists in the monitoring of care given to residents ensuring it is in accordance with the established plan of care by observing residents and reporting findings to immediate supervisor.
• Assists in the documentation of information pertaining to the care of residents as directed.
• Attends in-service education sessions, staff meetings, and workshops as directed.
• Assists in the onboarding of new staff as directed.
• Must follow IPAC (Infection Prevention and Control) policies and procedures.

What You Bring

• Graduate of Personal Support Worker Certificate/Diploma Program.
• Meet the vocational standards established by the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities.
• Meet the standards established by the National Association of Career Colleges.
• Meet the standards established by the Ontario Community Support Association.
• Knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering simple treatments and related bedside care to residents. Must understand the basics of good sanitation and cleaning techniques and be knowledgeable with respect to the needs of geriatric residents.
