Job summary

Extendicare is hiring part-time Personal Support Workers (PSW) to provide direct care at Tendercare Living Centre in Scarborough, Ontario. You will support residents with ambulation, feeding, bathing and daily activities under supervision.

Successful candidates will have a PSW program certification and experience in long-term care or home care, with strong communication and documentation skills. Union SEIU is in place; compensation reflects the collective agreement.

Qualifications

• Completed a PSW Program or HCA/CCA certification that meets the appropriate standards as required for the position
• Experience in Long Term Care or community home care setting with exposure to dementia and palliative care is preferred
• Knowledge and experience in care planning systems and documentation required
• Mentally and physically able to perform duties as assigned
• Ability to communicate positively with other staff, residents and families
• Ability to read and write English and understand verbal and written instructions in English

Personal Support Workers (PSW) are invited to apply for part‑time positions to work at our Tendercare Living Centre 204 - bed long‑term care home located in Scarborough, Ontario. You have the opportunity to provide care and services to a maximum of eight amazing residents. Under the direction of the Registered Staff, the PSW provides direct personal and nursing care to residents so as to fulfil the physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual needs of residents in accordance to home polices, procedure and work routines.

The PSW/HCA/CCA provides direct personal support and care to patients to fulfil the physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual needs of patients in accordance to polices, procedure and work routines. Assists in providing direct care such as ambulation, feeding, bathing and grooming.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to provide resident care in accordance with application legislation, job routines, nursing care plans, ability to read and write English and understand verbal and written instructions in English.
