Job summary

A compassionate Personal Support Worker (PSW) is sought to provide day-to-day assistance and help a client maintain a safe, comfortable, and independent lifestyle. The role covers meal preparation, light housekeeping, personal support, and accompanying the client to meetings, appointments, and errands.

The successful candidate will have PSW certification or relevant caregiving experience, strong organizational skills, and excellent communication.

Job description

We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and organized Personal Support Worker (PSW) to provide day-to-day assistance and help an individual maintain a safe, comfortable, and independent lifestyle. The role includes meal preparation, light housekeeping, personal support, and assistance with meetings, appointments, and errands.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with daily living activities and provide general personal support as required.
• Prepare and cook meals based on preferences and dietary instructions.
• Perform light housekeeping, including cleaning, laundry, dishes, and maintaining an organized living environment.
• Assist with grocery shopping and other household errands.
• Help organize and keep track of appointments, meetings, and daily schedules.
• Accompany the individual to medical appointments, meetings, shopping, and other scheduled activities when required.
• Provide reminders for appointments and daily activities.
• Assist with mobility and safe movement when required.
• Provide companionship and respectful emotional support.
• Maintain confidentiality, dignity, and professional boundaries.
• Report any concerns or changes in the individual's needs to the appropriate family member or supervisor.
• Perform other related support duties as required.

Requirements

• PSW certification or relevant caregiving experience preferred.
• Previous experience in personal support, home care, or caregiving is an asset.
• Comfortable with cooking, cleaning, and household responsibilities.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Able to assist with appointments, meetings, and errands.
• Patient, compassionate, reliable, and trustworthy.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle are considered an asset if transportation assistance is required.
