Total compensation ranges from $24 to $28 per hour, including travel and applicable premiums.

Job Description

Personal Support Workers play a pivotal role in our healthcare system. At Spectrum Health Care, they work closely with patients and their families, providing personal care and support with activities of daily living. The care provided by Personal Support Workers ensures patients can recover safely from an acute illness or remain in their homes throughout the aging process.

  1. Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, toileting, skincare, light meal preparation, feeding, etc.) in personal residences or facilities.
  2. Continuously assess, anticipate, identify, and respond to new and changing needs of patients, and communicate available Total Care resources to patients when appropriate.
  3. Perform delegated and/or assigned tasks under the supervision of a Home Support Supervisor.
  4. Travel within the assigned region between patients’ residences or facilities is required.
Qualifications
  1. Have one of the following qualifications (required):
    • Valid Personal Support Worker Certificate from a Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities or the Ministry of Education approved program.
    • RN/RPN Student who has successfully completed at least the first year of the program.
    • Internationally licensed Nurse, Midwife, or Physician.
  2. G2/G License with access to a vehicle.
  3. Physical ability to meet the demands of the job (e.g., ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel, reach freely for extended periods, lift 23 kg independently, assist clients with standing, walking, sitting, and repositioning in bed).
  4. Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional personal care and customer service.
  5. Valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR certifications.
  6. Updated immunization record including TB test (within the last 6 months).
  7. Proficient verbal and written English communication skills (additional languages are considered an asset).
