Job summary

A residential care facility in Ontario is seeking Personal Support Workers (PSW) for full-time and part-time roles. The PSWs will provide essential personal support and care to residents, assisting with daily activities such as feeding, bathing, and grooming. Candidates should have completed a PSW program and have experience in long-term care or community home care, particularly with dementia and palliative care. Access to a reliable vehicle is required.

Qualifications

  • Completed a PSW Program or HCA/CCA certification as required.
  • Experience in Long Term Care or community home care preferred.
  • Knowledge of care planning systems and documentation.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both verbal and written.
  • Experience working independently in Community Home Care is an asset.

The PSW/HCA/CCA provides direct personal support and care to patients to fulfill the physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of patients in accordance with policies, procedures and work routines. Assists in providing direct care such as ambulation, feeding, bathing and grooming.

Union Information: Union Name: CUPE Local: 2165 Classification (Title): PSW / HCA as applicable

Salary: As per Collective Agreement

Access to a reliable vehicle in community home care is required.

For both Non-Union and Union jobs, the following description applies:

Qualifications
  • Completed a PSW Program or HCA/CCA certification that meets the appropriate standards as required for the position.
  • Experience in Long Term Care or community home care setting with exposure to dementia and palliative care is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in care planning systems and documentation.
  • Ability to communicate positively with other staff, residents/patients and families.
  • Ability to provide care in accordance with applicable legislation, job routines, nursing care plans, ability to read and write English and understand verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Experience working independently in Community Home Care is an asset.
