Job description

Overview

Spectrum Health Care is hiring Personal Support Workers (PSW) in East Gwillimbury and Mt. Albert. Total compensation from $24 to $28 per hour including travel and applicable premiums. We offer competitive wages, flexible hours, paid sick days, pension options, rural and weekend premiums and more.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, toileting, skincare, light meal preparation, feeding, etc.) in clients’ homes or facilities
• Continually assess, anticipate, identify, and respond to new and changing needs of clients and communicate available Total Care resources to clients when appropriate
• Perform delegated and/or assigned tasks under the supervision of a Home Support Supervisor
• Travel within the assigned region between clients’ residences or facilities

Qualifications

• Have one of the following qualifications (required):
• Valid Personal Support Worker Certificate from a Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities or the Ministry of Education approved program
• RN/RPN student who has successfully completed year one of the program
• Internationally licensed Nurse, Midwife or Physician
• G2 license with access to a vehicle
• Physical ability to meet the demands of the job (e.g., standing, bending, walking, crouching, kneeling, reaching; ability to lift 23 kg independently; ability to assist clients with standing, walking, sitting; able to reposition clients in bed)
• Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional personal care and customer service
• Valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR
• Valid Vulnerable Sector Criminal Check
• Updated immunization record including TB Test (within last 6 months)
• Proficient verbal and written English communication skills (additional language skills considered an asset)
