Job summary

Bayshore HealthCare is seeking a compassionate Personal Support Worker to provide in-home care in Corunna and surrounding areas in Ontario. You will assist with personal care, mobility, and daily activities, following individualized care plans and ensuring client safety while maintaining documentation on Samsung/Android devices.

Candidates must have a PSW diploma or equivalent, excellent communication in English, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • Education: Personal Support Worker diploma or equivalent (evidence required)
  • Excellent communication skill with fluency in written and spoken English
  • French proficiency required for positions located within Quebec or where French language is a service requirement
  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance and reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care according to the care plan, ensuring emotional, spiritual, physical comfort and safety.
  • Perform duties within provincial scope of practice for a Personal Support Worker.
  • Document client conditions and report changes to the supervisor.
  • Adhere to infection prevention practices and use of device for data entry.
  • Participate in ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives.

Area of Work: Successful candidates will provide services to clients in Corunna, Mooretown, Courtright, Bridgen, Sombra, Port Lambton, and surrounding areas.

Availability: Successful candidates must be available to work from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care service according to directions on the established care plan or assignment sheet, and ensure that, on an ongoing basis, the emotional, spiritual, physical comfort and safety of clients are met to the greatest possible extent.
  • Provide personal care that is within the provincial scope of practice for a Personal Support Worker; duties may include skin care, hair care, mouth care, bathing, bowel and bladder care, positioning and movement, exercise, basic wound care, feeding including special diets, and assistance with oxygen administration and medication reminder.
  • Perform specialized, client specific procedures for which recognized training and current competency can be demonstrated.
  • Observe and document client conditions according to company standards, report unusual events or changes in the client’s condition to the immediate Supervisor or to the Office.
  • Understands and implements infection prevention practices.
  • Competence in Samsung or Android device use and functionality, enter accurate data.
  • Maintain confidentiality of the electronic information, securing Samsung or Android device and use of password.
  • Participate in ongoing internal and/or external continuing education activities.
  • Adhere to Bayshore Policies and Procedures
  • Participate in quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives in keeping with the company's Quality Management System.
  • Participates in proactive Health & Safety activities while performing all duties. Is responsible to notify immediate Supervisor of any Health & Safety risks or concerns.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client and corporate information and discusses same only with appropriate Bayshore personnel.
  • Complete other tasks as requested.
