Sienna Senior Living in Elmira, ON seeks a Personal Support Worker to join its Long Term Care team. You will form meaningful relationships with residents, providing personalized support and daily living assistance under the supervision of care leadership.

Formación

• PSW program completion from an approved college or private institution.
• Ability to pass Vulnerable Sector Check.

Responsabilidades

• Provide supervision and assistance to residents.
• Assist with activities of daily living (eating, dressing, hygiene, grooming) per care plans.
• Provide resident care and services.
• Encourage use of sensory aids (glasses, hearing devices).
• Assist with medications under supervision of a registered health professional after training.
• Ensure access to mobility or assistive devices (canes, walkers, bell).
• Provide cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual support; oral/dental care.
• Encourage participation in Resident Experience Team programs.

What You'll Be Doing

You will be a welcomed member of the Long Term Care team working in a fast-paced environment where you will make a meaningful difference in residents' lives. As a Personal Support Worker, you'll form a deep understanding of your residents and their living experience. You will build relationships with the residents and their family members, offering a variety of support options and program choices that enrich their daily health and well being. As an individual and part of a wider team, you will be a strong contributor to the culture of the home, where the focus is always on helping residents live fully, every day.

How You'll Succeed

• Provide Resident Supervision and Assistance
• support residents with their activities of daily living including eating, dressing, hygiene and grooming as per residents' individual plans of care
• Provide Resident Care and Services
• aid residents with respect to their communication and connections by encouraging them to wear individual sensory aids such as glasses, hearing aides, etc.
• with additional prescribed training, administer specific medication to residents under the supervision of a registered health professional
• ensure residents have constant and easy access to mobility or assistive devices such as canes, walkers, call bells, etc.
• provide ongoing cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual support; as well as oral and dental care
• encourage residents to participate in programs offered by the Resident Experience Team, whether individual or in groups
• You are compassionate and dedicated to meaningful work that supports seniors in living life fully
• You have completed a Personal Support Worker program from an approved college or private institution or you are an Internationally Educated Nurse that has achieved a degree in Nursing
• You are detailed-oriented and proficient in procedures and techniques involved in administering simple treatment and can provide bedside care to residents
• You exercise tact and diplomacy in working with seniors, their families and general visitors
