Job summary

Sienna Senior Living is seeking a Personal Support Worker in Elmira, Ontario to provide compassionate daily living assistance in a long-term care setting. You will build relationships with residents, support activities of daily living, and collaborate with care teams to enhance comfort and dignity.

The role emphasizes resident-centered care, teamwork, and adherence to care plans, with opportunities for ongoing learning and participation in a supportive workplace culture.

Qualifications

• Completed a Personal Support Worker program from an approved college or private institution.
• Internationally Educated Nurse with a degree in Nursing is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident supervision and assistance with activities of daily living (eating, dressing, hygiene, grooming).
• Administer simple treatments and assist with medication under supervision where permitted.
• Support resident comfort, well-being, mobility, and access to assistive devices.
• Engage residents and families to understand daily living needs and preferences.
• Deliver cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual support.
• Contribute to a welcoming, inclusive care environment in the Long Term Care home.

What you need to know

• Provide Resident Supervision and Assistance
• support residents with their activities of daily living including eating, dressing, hygiene and grooming as per residents' individual plans of care
• Provide Resident Care and Services
• aid residents with respect to their communication and connections by encouraging them to wear individual sensory aids such as glasses, hearing aides, etc.
• with additional prescribed training, administer specific medication to residents under the supervision of a registered health professional
• ensure residents have constant and easy access to mobility or assistive devices such as canes, walkers, call bells, etc.
• provide ongoing cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual support; as well as oral and dental care
• encourage residents to participate in programs offered by the Resident Experience Team, whether individual or in groups
• You are compassionate and dedicated to meaningful work that supports seniors in living life fully
• You have completed a Personal Support Worker program from an approved college or private institution or you are an Internationally Educated Nurse that has achieved a degree in Nursing
• You are detailed-oriented and proficient in procedures and techniques involved in administering simple treatment and can provide bedside care to residents
• You exercise tact and diplomacy in working with seniors, their families and general visitors
