Responsibilities
- The Personal Support Worker (PSW) delivers basic nursing and hygiene care for residents and assists with activities of daily living based on assessed needs and care-plan requirements.
- Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Care, Charge RN, RN or RPN, acts as the primary front-line monitor of resident well-being and reports changes in status or concerns to registered nursing staff.
- Provide care on assigned Resident Home Areas in a manner consistent with the mission, vision and values of Providence Care Centre and the requirements of the Long-Term Care Homes Act and Regulations.
- Familiarize self with the care plan of residents to provide care and follow a consistent approach when interacting with residents who may exhibit difficult behaviours.
- Assist residents with matters of personal hygiene and grooming as outlined in the resident’s care plan or as requested by the resident.
Qualifications
- Personal Support Worker Certificate from an approved college preferred (equivalent education and experience may be considered).
- Proven ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Good attendance and physical condition, including the ability to perform physically demanding duties.
