Job summary

Galent in Toronto seeks an experienced Performance Testing Engineer to lead end-to-end testing projects. You will design and execute performance scripts, analyze results, and guide teams on bottleneck removal, scalability, and reliability in large distributed systems.

You will apply expertise in JMeter, Linux fundamentals, and scripting, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive performance improvements and robust observability using tools like Prometheus, Dynatrace, and Splunk.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on performance testing experience with modern tools.
• Proficiency in JMeter and at least two APM tools.
• Strong Linux fundamentals and scripting ability.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems and big data.
• Excellent documentation and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end performance testing and engineering engagements.
• Develop and customize performance scripts in JMeter and related tools.
• Analyze performance data to identify bottlenecks and propose solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Dev, Infra, and QA to drive improvements.
• Define data strategies with the Test Data Management team for on-demand data generation.

Job description

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in performance testing & engineering using JMeter and APM tools (Prometheus, Dynatrace, Datadog)
• Excellent understanding of concepts like NFR gathering, Workload modelling, Root Cause Analysis of performance problems
• Track record of leading successful large-scale engagements with end-to-end Performance testing/engineering experience
• Proficiency in various scripting techniques, develop custom codes for enhancing and customizing performance testing scripts and scenarios using JMeter
• Demonstrate excellent Linux fundamentals and solid understanding of diagnosing system utilization
• Experience working with Agile methodologies
• Possess excellent documentation and communication skills, with the ability to influence others
• Experience working with large scale distributed systems & large data volumes
• Experience with some of the following technologies and services:
• Cloud based Infrastructure as a Service (especially Azure)
• MySQL, Java, Python
• Log management tools (Splunk)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose performance issues and propose effective solutions
• Experience with Chaos Engineering & Observability is nice to have to transition towards an SRE role
• Able to define data strategy and collaborate with the Test Data Management team to generate on-demand data
• Expertise in adopting in-house client-side performance testing tools like UX Engine to measure end user experience, wherever applicable
• Experience in developing virtual services using Mountebank to remove backend/third-party dependencies
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and technology/business stakeholders
