As the People & Culture Advisor at Medisca, you’ll play a critical role in aligning people strategies with business goals. Serving as the main P&C contact for your assigned business units, you’ll work closely with leaders and employees to deliver impactful HR support across employee relations, performance management, onboarding, and learning & development. Your focus will be on creating a positive employee experience while driving initiatives that support growth and organizational success.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop and foster relationships with managers to ensure that employee relations, employee engagement, learning & development programs and initiatives are in support of the business objectives.
- Act as a trusted advisor for employees for personal and professional matters.
- Work closely with management and employees to design and implement programs to cultivate a positive culture, improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to management (e.g., coaching, career development, disciplinary actions). Act as a witness in disciplinary and termination meetings.
- Send policy or procedure amendments, update Employee Handbooks, and create forms as needed.
- Identify and coordinate training needs for new hires and current employees.
- Participate in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Industrial Relations required
- Three (3) to five (5) years related experience in Human Resources
- Knowledge of Canadian & U.S. labour laws
- Experience in handling sensitive information & situations
- Advanced interpersonal and mediation skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to flag discrepancies while exercising sound ethical judgment
- Strong work ethic, applies discretion in his/her work
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) required
- Experience with HRIS or UKG is a plus
- Excellent communication and writing skills required; fluent English and French an asset.
- Ability to travel as needed to Montreal and British Columbia
