At HEB Manitoba, our Pension Administration department takes a supportive and proactive approach to providing industry-leading service to our members.

Reporting to the Manager, Pension Administration, the Pension Administrator will be a key member of a dedicated team committed to providing service excellence in the administration of our various benefit plans.

HEB Manitoba is looking for a pension, benefits or financial administrator to become part of our professional team. This energetic group is responsible for assisting our healthcare members by providing accurate information on their pension entitlements.

  • Enhance your knowledge about HEB Manitoba Plan documents, procedures, contractual provisions and Plan texts.
  • Become familiar with HEB Manitoba’s internal software systems.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Your responsibilities will increase to include:

  • Handle requests via multiple mediums from members and provide valuable service.
  • Prepare and analyze pension and benefit calculations.
  • Address member concerns, escalating issues to management as required.
  • Review of associated documentation for retirements, estimates, reciprocal transfers etc. within corporate and legislated timelines.
  • Initiate payment processes for terminating and retiring members.
  • Develop and apply your knowledge of industry regulations and applicable Pension legislation.
Qualifications for Your Success:
Experience & Education
  • Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration, Commerce, Actuarial Science, Mathematics or related field.
  • Two plus years’ experience in the pension, benefits and/or financial industry. Defined Benefit or Defined Contribution pension experience will help you to excel in this role.
  • Coursework completed towards the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) or Pension Plan Administration Certificate (PPAC) is considered an asset.

An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Competencies & Skills
  • A professional member service attitude that is proactive and delivered with empathy.
  • Working knowledge of provincial legislation such as The Pension Benefits Act and the Income Tax Act.
  • Demonstrated strengths in written, oral and interpersonal communication.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to integrate and work well with team members in a collaborative and dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
