In our statewide Corrections and Community Reentry Services, we provide specialized case management services to help people prepare to return to their families and communities after they’ve been incarcerated. We work both inside prisons and in communities to conduct screening and assessments for substance use disorders, place clients into treatment programs, and provide support with such activities as insurance enrollment, obtaining a state ID, and finding employment resources.

We are currently looking for full-time – Peer Support Specialist
Starting at $36,500 - $39,000 – contingent upon experience, education, etc.

Division Overview

Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) utilizes TASC’s longstanding expertise in specialized case management to assist individuals in St. Clair and Madison counties in obtaining and maintaining affordable housing. PSH provides clients with the skills and resources necessary to thrive in their homes and communities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Identify available options for community inclusion and participation
  • Assist client in accessing and utilizing natural community resources
  • Assists clients to build recovery based social supports in the community
  • Understands and assists clients in improving recovery capital inventory
  • Supports tenants in strengthening and developing life skills needed to maintain housing
  • Support clients with issues surrounding tenants’ rights
  • Support clients in resolving non rent based landlord issues (requesting repairs etc.)
  • Be aware of goals in client housing stabilization plan while supporting the needs of the client identified in the assessments
  • Assist in transportation and support attending medical appointments after assuring that appropriate releases of information are on file
  • Assist with experienced based support and transportation for tenants receiving supportive services referrals as necessary to provide and remove barriers addressing housing stabilization
  • Enter all necessary client information in the ECR databased
  • Assist in program monthly reporting
  • Attend all IDHS/SUPR training as required
Our Ideal candidate
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Three years of lived recovery experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of 12 the step-recovery community preferred
  • Specific programs may require higher education, certification, and/or licensures based on contractual obligation
  • Valid driver's license
  • CADC certification within two years of employment with TASC may be required based on contractual obligations
  • Knowledge of outreach and/or supportive housing programs
  • Must be able to implement a Housing First Model.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to take initiative and have creativity
  • Flexibility in thinking and approaches to leading group discussions
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
