A leading mental health service provider in Halton Region is seeking a Peer Support Provider to assist families of children facing mental health challenges. The role involves providing peer-based support and facilitating access to resources. Ideal candidates will have lived experience as a primary caregiver and strong communication skills. You are a compassionate and empathetic individual with lived experience as a primary caregiver to a child or youth facing emotional, behavioural, or mental health challenges. Drawing on your personal journey through child-serving systems such as mental health, child welfare, or youth justice, you are motivated to support and empower other families navigating similar experiences.
You are a natural collaborator who thrives in team‑based environments and values the importance of family‑centred care. You are skilled at building trusting relationships, validating caregiver experiences, and helping others understand and navigate complex systems. You are committed to ensuring that families feel heard, respected, and supported in identifying both formal and informal resources that meet their needs.
With strong communication skills and a deep sense of empathy, you are comfortable offering peer support in a variety of ways, including one‑on‑one meetings, group facilitation, and virtual engagement. You are organized, able to manage documentation requirements, and are confident using technology in your work. Above all, you lead by example—modeling self‑care, resilience, and a strengths‑based approach in all that you do.

As a Peer Support Provider, you will play a vital role in supporting families of children and youth impacted by mental health challenges. Working closely with a Care Coordinator and a multidisciplinary care team, you will provide non‑clinical, peer‑based support to caregivers, helping them navigate systems, access services, and build on their strengths.
In this role, your lived experience as a caregiver gives you a unique ability to connect with families, validate their experiences, and guide them through the often complex mental health system. You will offer support through one‑on‑one meetings, phone contact, group programming, and community connections, helping families feel empowered and understood.
You’ll be part of a collaborative team within a primary care setting, contributing to family‑centred care planning and service coordination. Your knowledge of local community resources and your ability to build trusting relationships will be essential in helping families access the supports they need.
