Job summary

Health Match BC is seeking a Pediatrician to join a supportive, collegial team in Williams Lake. You will provide general paediatric care including neonatal services (34 weeks and above), and contribute to emergency department coverage and consultant work at Cariboo Memorial Hospital.

Join a rural community with robust outdoor opportunities and a strong network of allied health professionals at the Cariboo Chilcotin Child Development Centre.

Qualifications

• Pediatrician with general paediatric practice in a community setting.
• Experience with neonatal care (34 weeks and above) and emergency department involvement preferred.
• Strong collaborative skills with allied health teams and hospital staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide general acute paediatric care and neonatal services (34+ weeks).
• Deliver ER coverage and consultant support at Cariboo Memorial Hospital.
• Collaborate with the Cariboo Chilcotin Child Development Centre and hospital teams to deliver high-quality care.

Hospital Description

Cariboo Memorial is “Under Construction” with planned completion of 2026! The CMH redevelopment project includes an addition to the existing hospital as well as renovations to the existing facility. The addition will add 25 in-patient beds for a total of 53, a new emergency department, mental-health unit and cancer department. NEW (July’23) Maternity Clinic – dedicated to providing comprehensive care and support to expectant mother in the Cariboo region.

Currently, CMH is a Level 2 Community Hospital in Williams Lake with 28 inpatient beds. CMH hospital offers ER, ICU, OR, med-surg, cardiology unit and obstetrical units. Lab and diagnostic imaging on site; outpatient hemodialysis unit operated on-site. Residential beds are embedded within med-surg unit on second floor of hospital.

Deni House is adjacent to CMH, embodies a resident centered philosophy designed to help people function at their highest level and provide the best quality of life. Deni House has 13 private and 5 3-bed rooms. Nine of the beds are designated as short stay including 2 palliative beds, and ALCP’s (2beds).

You will enjoy a busy and exciting practice working with another pediatrician and alongside an excellent team of caring allied health professionals at the Cariboo Chilcotin Child Development Centre. Additionally, you will provide general acute, neonatal (34 weeks and above), ER and consultant work to patients and their families at Cariboo Memorial Hospital. A general paediatric background with an interest in developmental and behavioural paediatrics would be especially suitable.

May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including:

• Retention Premium 12.32%
• Retention Flat Fee $19,092
• Relocation Funding Available $9,000 - $15,000 based on move location
• Recruitment Incentive $15,000 for full time
• Other Benefits/Incentives With RCME, you’ll be eligible to receive $600 for up to 2 years in Trail, $3,600 during your 3rd and 4th year, and $6,600 after 4 years, in addition to the Doctors of BC CME funds. Rural incentives are subject to change and current rates are confirmed at the time of offer.
