Job summary

Health Match BC is seeking a Pediatrician to join a collaborative team in Williams Lake, a vibrant rural community in the Cariboo region. You will provide general pediatrics, neonatal care (34 weeks and above), emergency and consultant services at Cariboo Memorial Hospital and work with the Cariboo Chilcotin Child Development Centre.

The role emphasizes teamwork with allied health professionals and opportunities in developmental and behavioural pediatrics.

Qualifications

• Pediatrician with general paediatric experience; neonatal care 34+ weeks; ER and consultant duties.

Responsibilities

• Provide general acute paediatrics, neonatal care (34 weeks and above), ER and consultant services at Cariboo Memorial Hospital and with the Cariboo Chilcotin Child Development Centre.
• Collaborate with an excellent team of allied health professionals to deliver high-quality pediatric care.
• Support development and behavioural paediatrics initiatives and participate in community health activities.

Hospital Description

Cariboo Memorial is “Under Construction” with planned completion of 2026! The CMH redevelopment project includes an addition to the existing hospital as well as renovations to the existing facility. The addition will add 25 in-patient beds for a total of 53, a new emergency department, mental-health unit and cancer department. NEW (July’23) Maternity Clinic – dedicated to providing comprehensive care and support to expectant mother in the Cariboo region.

Currently, CMH is a Level 2 Community Hospital in Williams Lake with 28 inpatient beds. CMH hospital offers ER, ICU, OR, med-surg, cardiology unit and obstetrical units. Lab and diagnostic imaging on site; outpatient hemodialysis unit operated on-site. Residential beds are embedded within med-surg unit on second floor of hospital.

Deni House is adjacent to CMH, embodies a resident centered philosophy designed to help people function at their highest level and provide the best quality of life. Deni House has 13 private and 5 3-bed rooms. Nine of the beds are designated as short stay including 2 palliative beds, and ALCP’s (2beds).

You will enjoy a busy and exciting practice working with another pediatrician and alongside an excellent team of caring allied health professionals at the Cariboo Chilcotin Child Development Centre. Additionally, you will provide general acute, neonatal (34 weeks and above), ER and consultant work to patients and their families at Cariboo Memorial Hospital. A general paediatric background with an interest in developmental and behavioural paediatrics would be especially suitable.

Benefits and Incentives

• May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including: Retention Premium 12.32%
• Retention Flat Fee $19,092
• Relocation Funding Available $9,000 - $15,000 based on move location
• Recruitment Incentive $15,000 for full time
• Other Benefits/Incentives With RCME, you’ll be eligible to receive $600 for up to 2 years in Trail, $3,600 during your 3rd and 4th year, and $6,600 after 4 years, in addition to the Doctors of BC CME funds. Rural incentives are subject to change and current rates are confirmed at the time of offer.
