Job summary

The role requires a Respiratory Therapy credential with Anesthesia Assistant Certification, NSCRT registration, and BLS, with on-call availability within 30 minutes.

Qualifications

• Diploma/degree in Respiratory Therapy from a recognized Canadian program.
• Anesthesia Assistant Certification/Diploma.
• Certified Clinical Anesthesia Assistant designation or eligibility within 3 months of hire.
• Registered with the NSCRT is required.
• BLS certification within the last 12 months or renewal is required.
• Two years of pediatric anesthesia or respiratory therapy experience preferred.
• French language skills are an asset.
• Must arrive at IWK Health Center within 30 minutes when on call.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Anaesthesiologist in all aspects of anesthesia care.
• Monitor patients under anesthesia and provide preoperative support.
• Develop anesthesia plans and support awake intubations and emergency situations.
• Educate healthcare professionals and help introduce new technology.
