This opportunity is for a Full Time Payroll Specialist in our Rochelle Park, NJ Practice Support Center.

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate preparation, documentation, and reconciliation of the Bi-weekly payroll and the administration of the payroll system. The Payroll Specialist processes the bi-weekly payroll for the 4 entities for the Curalta network.

Essential Functions, Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Reviews the computation of pay and associated deductions for accuracy
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of city, state, provincial, local, & federal legislation affecting payroll
  • Updates payroll records and records/tracks payroll changes as needed
  • Performs basic reconciliation and auditing processes during each pay cycle
  • Understands and follows applicable provisions for a compliant payroll
  • Cooperates payroll processing with HR/Benefits team
  • Responds to and resolves any inquiries regarding paychecks or payroll reporting
  • Ensures payroll issues are escalated and resolved promptly
  • Tracks and records updates to payroll records to ensure the correct outcome of the bi-weekly payroll process
  • Prepares payroll related reports
  • Coordinates with HR team, manager, Sun Life, and employee the LOA requests relating to payroll related items
    • Tracking benefit premiums while one is on LOA
    • Ensure timely communications with employees regarding missed premium payments
    • Ensure missed premium payments are captured timely
  • Coordinates with HR team, benefits vendor, employee regarding benefits enrollment or changes relating to payroll related items
  • Tracking changes in benefits impacting premiums
  • Coordinates with HR team regarding new hires and terminated employees related to pay changes
    • Vacation payout
    • Prorated payroll
  • Adheres to the attendance policy
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Education & Experience
  • Associate's degree in finance or human resources preferred or related field and/or equivalent experience
  • At least three years’ experience with payroll required
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 suite
  • Working understanding of payroll principles, practices, and procedures
