Dock Products Canada Inc. is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Administrator to support payroll operations and benefits management across Canadian entities.

This role reports to the Corporate Controller and collaborates with the Swedish parent organization to align payroll practices. You will manage full-cycle payroll, ensure statutory compliance, and provide timely reporting while maintaining data integrity and strong internal controls.

Qualifications

  • College degree in Human Resources or Business Administration or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration.
  • Strong time management and prioritizing skills.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian payroll tax and employment legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit payroll reports with accuracy and compliance.
  • Support biweekly Canadian payroll processing, including data entry, validation, and reporting.
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll data for accuracy and integrity.
  • Process biweekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees.
  • Assist with monthly journal entries related to payroll.
  • Assist with year-end reporting such as T4s and T2200.

Dock Products Canada Inc. is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Administrator who will report directly to the Corporate Controller. This role will also work closely with the Swedish parent organization, ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems, providing alignment and collaboration on payroll and benefits practices.

The Payroll & Benefits Administrator plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate, compliant, and timely administration of payroll and employee benefits across the Canadian entities. As a key partner to Human Resources, Finance, and regional leadership teams, this individual will support payroll operations, statutory compliance, benefits management, and related reporting activities while maintaining strong internal controls and a high level of data integrity.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the full cycle of payroll processing, employee benefits administration, and payroll-related reporting. In addition, they will identify and implement opportunities to improve processes, enhance system efficiencies, and strengthen payroll controls. Acting as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries, this individual will ensure payroll data is accurate, complete, and processed in accordance with applicable legislation, company policies, and organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and submit certified payroll reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with prevailing wage requirements; support ongoing process improvements.
  • Support biweekly Canadian payroll processing, including data entry, validation, and reporting.
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable wage and hour legislation, tax regulations, union agreements, and company policies.
  • Perform accurate calculation, deduction, and remittance of union dues in accordance with collective agreements and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist Finance with the preparation of monthly journal entries related to payroll.
  • Process biweekly payroll for hourly (union and non-union) and salaried employees.
  • Perform biweekly payroll reconciliations and support monthly reporting requirements.
  • Support the harmonization and standardization of payroll platforms and processes across entities.
  • Prepare and complete year end reporting, T4’s and T2200 etc.
  • Provide support to employees regarding payroll, time and attendance, and benefits-related inquiries
  • Provide timely ad hoc reports as required by senior leadership and other departments.
What You Will Need:
  • College degree in Human Resources or Business Administration or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration
  • Strong time management and prioritizing skills
  • Good customer service skills
  • Working knowledge of ADP but not required
  • Must possess a strong work ethic and be a team player
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel
  • Multi-provincial payroll experience required
  • Working knowledge Canadian payroll tax and employment legislation
  • Ability to deal with difficult, sensitive and confidential information
