Job Overview

The Payroll Analyst is responsible for preparing and processing multi‑jurisdictional payrolls for Canadian Operations. This role focuses on identifying opportunities to automate processes, streamline workflows, and improve the overall efficiency of payroll operations. Additionally, the Payroll Analyst contributes to establishing robust internal controls and ensures ongoing compliance with regulatory standards.

Job Responsibilities
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of the Company’s payrolls and related reconciliations.
  • Audit payroll information to identify and resolve discrepancies, ensuring data integrity.
  • Process payroll liabilities including Federal and Provincial tax information, earnings, deductions, and garnishments.
  • Prepare Records of Employment and various reports.
  • Assess requests, develop business plans, test and implement payroll solutions.
  • Stay current with and manage the implementation of changes to employment and tax laws related to Canadian payroll processing (including Quebec).
  • Prepare, analyse, and reconcile periodic, quarterly, and annual tax payments.
  • Process and file all applicable tax forms, returns, documents for year‑end payroll processing.
  • Administer and manage short‑term‑disability payments in collaboration with our plan provider.
  • Continuously seek ways to automate payroll processes and recommend improvements to streamline operations.
  • Take ownership of payroll processes, ensuring they are efficient, compliant, and aligned with company goals.
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum five years’ experience in a payroll office environment.
  • Working knowledge of administering a Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution pension plans in a multi‑jurisdictional environment.
  • Working knowledge of Group Benefits Plans.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office tools, including Word, Excel, MS Forms.
  • Demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with precision, attention to detail, and adherence to deadlines.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and self‑motivation, with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to manage confidential and complex information while managing multiple tasks under strict deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to identify and analyse multiple solution options.
  • Proactively communicates learned material to others when appropriate.
  • Strong organisational skills to track the status of various tasks and project activities.
  • Thorough in examining all relevant information and identifying potential impacts.

  • Experience working with Dayforce software is considered an asset.
  • Bilingual in French is considered an asset.
