Payment Specialist - Canada

We are seeking a Payment Specialist to support and streamline financial activities within clinical trials. This role works closely with cross‑functional partners to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payments to sites, investigators, and participants. You will help maintain smooth financial operations, troubleshoot payment issues, and uphold quality standards across the payment lifecycle.

What you will be doing:
  • Oversee and process site and participant payments in alignment with study agreements and regulatory guidance.
  • Maintain accurate payment records within required electronic systems.
  • Prepare Smart Grant entries and ensure updates are completed on schedule.
  • Generate purchase orders and assist with supplier onboarding for new site staff.
  • Monitor payment progress, address delays, and resolve discrepancies as needed.
  • Serve as a point of contact for payment-related questions from sites and internal teams.
  • Collaborate with Budget & Contracts, Study Start‑Up, Trial Management, Legal, and Finance to keep payment workflows moving efficiently.
  • Ensure all activities follow ICH‑GCP, regulatory requirements, and internal quality standards.
Your Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, science, or a related field.
  • Experience in clinical research, pharma/biotech, or financial operations (1‑3 years preferred).
  • Background in managing payments within a clinical or regulated environment is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of clinical trial payment processes.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across cross‑functional teams.
  • Strong organizational and analytical abilities with a proactive, solutions‑focused mindset.
  • Comfortable navigating electronic payment platforms and related digital tools.
