Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Master will contribute to the efficient and compliant management of payroll. This key role will allow you to leverage your expertise in payroll administration in a dynamic environment where accuracy and confidentiality are paramount.

  • Salary range 003: 61 400$ to 76 800$ (Salary will be determined based on skills, education, training & experience related to the position.)

Responsibilities
  • Perform activities related to processing payroll for Canadian hourly employees, in compliance with provincial regulations, across various payroll environments, while ensuring data validation.

  • Maintain employee master files in payroll systems and ensure alignment with the HR system.

  • Correctly apply work agreements specific to different facilities as well as standards in effect for non-unionized sites.

  • Prepare various documents, reports, and Records of Employment (ROEs).

  • Actively participate in the year-end process.

  • Analyze, in collaboration with Human Capital and the Payroll Process Specialist, changes to collective agreements.

  • Perform retroactive calculations during the renewal of work agreements.

  • Keep procedures up to date to ensure compliant and efficient processing.

  • Collaborate on integrating payroll for unionized employees during new acquisitions.

  • Identify and report opportunities for improvement in systems or procedures related to payroll processing.

Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of Excel with advanced proficiency (pivot tables, complex formulas, automation).

  • Familiarity with the Workday payroll system.

  • PCP accreditation (Payroll Compliance Professional) – an asset.

  • Bilingual (French and English, spoken and written, as collaboration involves stakeholders across Canada).

  • Payroll experience in a unionized and manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in large companies or complex environments – an asset.

  • Analytical mindset and attention to detail in data processing.

  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively in a team.

  • Excellent communication skills, with tact and the ability to advocate for ideas.

  • Effective stress and priority management in a dynamic environment.
