  • Position Type: Full-Time On-Call (PW Only)
  • Wage: $19/hr (plus $10/hr on-call base rate)
  • Schedule: 7 On / 7 Off — alternating days and nights each rotation
About the Role

Patient Watch Officers provide supportive, continuous observation for patients who require extra monitoring to ensure their safety and well‑being. This role is ideal for individuals who are calm, attentive, professional, and comfortable working in a healthcare environment.

You will work closely with hospital staff and help maintain a safe, respectful, and patient‑focused atmosphere.

Primary Deployment: Red Deer Hub

This posting is specifically for the Red Deer Hub, which primarily covers:

  • Red Deer
  • Innisfail
  • Olds
  • Ponoka
  • Rimbey
  • Lacombe

Your priority will be to work within the Red Deer Hub, and we will make every effort to schedule you in this area. However, depending on operational needs, you may occasionally be deployed to other locations across the Central Zone. Flexibility is an important part of this role.

Central Zone Coverage

While hub assignments determine where you work most frequently, PW Officers may be assigned anywhere in the Central Zone when required.

Preferred Recruitment Area

Candidates should ideally live in or near Red Deer or within a reasonable distance for reliable response times. If you’re unsure whether your location is suitable, we can confirm with management.

Key Responsibilities

Work Environment

This role takes place in hospital settings and involves working with:

  • Patients who may be confused, stressed, or requiring extra support
  • A fast‑paced, collaborative healthcare team
  • Situations where attentiveness and patience are essential

This role does not involve clinical duties; your focus is observation and support.

On‑Call Expectations
  • 7 on / 7 off rotation
  • Alternating day and night sets
  • Must be available for short‑notice call‑ins
  • Weekend and overnight availability required
  • Flexibility to support other hub sites when necessary
Requirements

  • Willingness to travel within the Red Deer Hub (and occasionally beyond)
  • Must pass a Criminal Background Check
