Job summary

Nova Scotia Health is seeking a Food Service Worker - Nutrition and Food Services to join our patient and retail food service team. The Utility Worker assists with preparing and serving meals, handling nourishments, and maintaining safe food handling procedures in a fast-paced environment.

You will stock, rotate supplies, operate meal selection tools, and help with sanitation, inventory, and documentation. The role requires Grade 12 or GED, basic math, and good English; restaurant or customer

Qualifications

• Grade 12/GED or equivalent.
• Competency in English and basic Math.
• Restaurant experience is an asset.
• Customer service skills are an asset.
• Ability to work as part of a team and meet standards.

Responsibilities

• Answer patient calls and enter meal selections on a computer or tablet.
• Visit patients to collect or verify meal selections.
• Assemble, portion and serve patient and visitor meals.
• Handle nourishments, beverages and menu items; prepare mix & serve items.
• Deliver meals and nourishments; collect soiled trays.
• Receive and store supplies; manage inventory using FIFO.
• Print menus/reports and support food safety and sanitation.
