Job Summary

You will be responsible for running the pastry operations by creating, planning and supervising the daily production of top-quality pastries, desserts and baked goods.

As a Pastry Chef de Partie, you will:
  • Supervise the daily production and distribution of all pastries, desserts and baked goods
  • Ensure recipes and standards are followed, food costs are controlled, and appropriate quantity is prepared based on established production needs
  • Ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures
  • Monitor and control the maintenance and sanitation of the pastry kitchen and equipment to ensure a work environment that meets/exceeds federal, provincial and corporate standards and regulations
  • Supervise hourly kitchen/pastry associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews and recommending disciplinary action, as appropriate
  • Help plan and implement seasonal menus
  • Order and maintain pastry supplies and products to ensure appropriate inventory levels
About you:
  • Proven experience as Pastry Chef, baker or in a relevant role
  • You must have a valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent
  • Post-secondary education in culinary or related studies
  • Great attention to detail and creativity
  • Great organization and leadership skills
  • In depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques and nutrition
  • Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, sugarless etc.)
  • Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or in a relevant field
