Job summary

Westside Recreation Centre in Calgary, Alberta, is seeking a Birthday Party Leader to plan and run engaging, age-appropriate activities for birthday parties on Saturdays and Sundays. You will tailor lesson plans to match ages and themes and coordinate with hosts to ensure a smooth experience.

You will supervise volunteers, maintain safety, manage setup/teardown, and handle administrative duties while delivering a fun, safe party environment.

Qualifications

• Current Standard First Aid/CPR/AED certification is required.
• Experience facilitating group activities or games.
• Recreation programming experience.
• Ability to build and lead a lesson plan.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High 5 is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Job description

• Lead groups through transitions between spaces, performing headcounts before and after each move

Administrative

• Attend staff meetings and training sessions
• Confirm party details and guest counts with the Birthday Party Host
• Assist with safety training related assignments as required
• Report any equipment issues, safety concerns, or incidents
• Complete Incident Report Forms as required
• Complete customized lesson plans in advance
• Additional administrative duties as required
• Maintain gym equipment and activity areas to ensure cleanliness and safety
• Perform first aid as required
• Follow all emergency procedures

PHYSICAL/PSYCHOLOGICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy, and noisy environment
• Ability to be highly active throughout the shift (running, demonstrating games, moving equipment)
• Ability to lift 20–25 lbs on a daily basis
• Ability to work inside as well as outside when required
• The successful candidate must hold high ethical standards as they are working with a vulnerable population and has access to confidential information
• A successful candidate will require to provide a VSS
• Remote working not available for this position
