Job summary

McGill University is seeking a part-time Student Communications Assistant — Web Design to support the Faculty of Education’s website and unit pages. You will create and redesign pages under guidance, improving layouts, navigation, and content organization to enhance user understanding and engagement.

Responsibilities include content migration, developing new sections, and ensuring visual identity and accessibility standards are met.

Qualifications

  • Experience or coursework in web design and digital content creation.
  • Familiarity with Drupal or McGill’s Web Management System (WMS).
  • Ability to organize information into clear, visually engaging layouts.
  • Understanding of visual identity and digital accessibility principles.
  • Strong collaboration skills and responsiveness to feedback.
  • Strong written English and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Create and redesign pages under the Senior Advisor’s creative direction.
  • Improve page layouts, navigation, and content organization.
  • Assist with content migration and the development of new website sections.
  • Apply Faculty and McGill visual identity and accessibility standards.
  • Gather feedback from users and Faculty units to inform design choices.
  • Test new and redesigned pages for usability before publication.
