Conestoga College's Veterinary Technician and Veterinary Assistant programs offer students high-quality, hands-on education in animal health care, preparing graduates to meet the evolving needs of veterinary clinics, animal hospitals, and related settings. These programs, based at our newly renovated Kitchener-Doon campus, are designed to address the growing need for skilled professionals in animal care.
Our programs feature state-of-the-art laboratory facilities where students will engage in hands-on learning experiences. These labs are equipped with realistic animal models and advanced simulation technology, allowing students to develop essential veterinary skills in a controlled environment. Students will participate in various lab activities, including animal anatomy, clinical pathology, and surgical procedures, before applying their knowledge in real-world clinical placements. Students also participate in live animal opportunities to gain experience throughout their curriculum.
We are seeking a Part-Time Technologist to join our team and support these innovative lab experiences. In addition, Part-Time Technologists will supervise students in live animal interactions during their animal husbandry and housing courses. The Technologist, Animal Care plays a crucial role in supporting our animal care programs within the School of Community Services . Their responsibilities encompass various laboratory activities across the Veterinary Assistant, and Veterinary Technician programs.
Successful candidates will be required to work on-site at the Doon campus, located at 299 Doon Valley Dr. in Kitchener, and off-campus at animal kennels in the Greater Kitchener-Waterloo area. During the fall term, September to December 2026, the Technologist will be scheduled up to 16 hours/week, including early mornings (6:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.), 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., or early evenings (5:0 0 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.). Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet operational needs. Travel between sites is required.

This position works with animals. The successful applicants will be required to provide proof of rabies vaccination and protective titre. Maintenance of a fully vaccinated status for rabies will be required.
