Job summary

Maven Lane is seeking dedicated Early Childhood Educator Assistants (ECEAs) to join our School Age and Supported Child Development teams in Vernon, BC. You will guide school-age children through routines and support growth across intellectual, physical, social and emotional domains.

Schedule includes Monday to Friday 2:00 pm – 5:30 pm with full-day shifts during Pro-D days, Spring Break, and Summer Break. You will supervise, assist, and collaborate on curriculum, while maintaining health, safety

Qualifications

• Must have current ECEA or Responsible Adult Certificate.
• Valid Emergency Child Care First Aid certificate.
• Clear oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and assist children in daily activities, ensuring a safe, warm, and joyful environment.
• Transport children by Maven Lane bus during commutes from school to the facility.
• Collaborate with Program Facilitator to develop emergent curriculum learning activities.
• Monitor health and safety, observe signs of illness or distress, provide first aid as needed.
• Maintain positive relationships with families to encourage program involvement.
• Keep the learning space clean, orderly, and conducive to learning; assist with housekeeping as needed.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in annual celebrations in line with Maven Lane policies.

In this role, you will be responsible for guiding school-age children through their daily routines, fostering an environment that encourages intellectual, physical, social, and emotional growth.

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday: 2:00 pm – 5:30 pm.
• Full-day shifts: Required during Pro-D days, Spring Break, and Summer Break.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Guidance & Supervision: Supervise and assist children in daily activities, ensuring a safe, warm, and joyful experience.
• Transportation: Ride the Maven Lane bus to supervise children during their commute from school to our facility.
• Curriculum Development: Collaborate with the Program Facilitator and team members to create learning environments focused on emergent curriculum.
• Health & Safety: Maintain awareness of medical and developmental histories; observe children for signs of ill health or emotional distress; administer first aid and medication as required.
• Relationship Building: Maintain open, professional, and cooperative relationships with families to encourage program involvement.
• Facility Care: Ensure the room remains clean, orderly, and conducive to learning; assist with housekeeping and equipment upkeep.
• Professionalism: Adhere to the ECEBC Code of Ethics and Maven Lane policies; attend regular staff meetings and annual Society celebrations.

Qualifications

• Certification: Current ECEA Certificate or Responsible Adult Certificate (required).
• First Aid: Valid Emergency Child Care First Aid Certificate.
• Communication: Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
