Job summary

Cogir Senior Living in Canada is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to deliver patient-centered nursing care in retirement residences. You will work with residents across independent, assisted living and memory care settings, ensuring compassionate support and adherence to provincial standards.

You will join a multi-disciplinary team, implement care plans, educate residents and families, and contribute to a compassionate, high-quality care environment focused on dignity and safety.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in the applicable province.
• Solid clinical knowledge and compassionate care.
• Experience with seniors and with unregulated care providers preferred.
• Background in gerontology/rehabilitation or long-term care is assets.
• Strong communication, teamwork and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide planned, patient-centred nursing care following provincial standards.
• Work within a multi-disciplinary team, communicating with residents and families.
• Implement and evaluate care plans and adjust as needed.
• Complete care assessments, plans and documentation accurately.
• Coach and mentor unregulated care providers.

How YOU make a difference

• RPNs are responsible for providing planned, patient-oriented, goal-directed nursing care in accordance with the provincial standards of care.
• RPNs are an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team who build trusted relationships with our residents, families and teams with continuous ongoing and effective communication.
• RPNs implement and evaluate the effectiveness of the care plans and make changes as required.
• RPNs complete and ensure resident’s clinical care assessments, care plans and documentation are accurate, up to date and communicate changes as required.
• RPNs teach, delegate and direct unregulated care providers, providing them with coaching & mentorship.

What YOU bring

• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in the applicable province
• Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge
• Experience working with seniors and with unregulated care providers preferred
• Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care an asset
• Strong drive, respect and an understanding of the emotional and physical demands of the role
• Focus on teamwork and customer service with the ability to build trusted relationships
• Strong written and oral communication skills and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
• Computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft office applications
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification required
• Current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one
