Job summary

Metro is seeking a Meat Cutter for a permanent part-time role at our Guelph store. The successful candidate will cut, trim and portion meats to Metro standards, maintain displays, rotate stock using FIFO, and assist customers with product knowledge and cooking tips.

Flexibility for days, evenings and weekends is required; prior meat cutting experience is essential. This role operates in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment with strict safety standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum meat cutting experience required.
• Meat product knowledge and merchandising experience considered an asset.
• Customer service driven.

Responsibilities

• Cut, trim, and prepare a variety of meat products according to company standards.
• Portion and package meat products for retail display and customer orders.
• Maintain attractive, full, and well-organized meat displays.
• Ensure proper rotation of product (FIFO) to maintain freshness and minimize shrink.
• Inspect product quality and remove items that do not meet company standards.
• Provide friendly and knowledgeable customer service, including product recommendations and cooking tips.
• Operate and maintain cutting equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
• Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and health & safety procedures.
