Overview

Part-Time Elementary & High School Tutors Wanted. Passionate about puns? Excited by literature? Eager to help students succeed in all subjects? Our hours count–gain valuable teaching experience! Oxford Learning Don Valley is currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for roles in our learning centre. If you love working with students, enjoy teaching language skills, and want to help others build their academic confidence, this position is perfect for you.

Position Overview

As a Teacher-Tutor at Oxford Learning, you will have the opportunity to work with Elementary students in reading, writing, math and French and/or with High School students in math (through Calculus), physics, chemistry, biology, and English. Our Tutors do not have to worry about lesson planning, as all lessons are pre-planned. You will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods, allowing you to focus on what you do best – teaching!

Position Requirements
  • Availability during after-school and evening hours (3:00 pm - 8:00 pm)
  • Commitment through to the end of the 2025-26 school year (June 26th), with the possibility of continuing through the summer
  • In-person instruction
  • Ability to commute to the designated location (no relocation packages available)
  • Mandatory vulnerable sector screening

Salary

$18 - $20 / hour (depending on teachable subjects and grade levels)

Schedule
  • Evenings
  • Monday to Thursday
  • Saturday availability (an asset but not necessary)
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • Third-year university students with tutoring experience will be considered
  • Working towards or having a teaching certification is an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current Kindergarten to Grade 12 curriculum
  • Knowledge of high school sciences and math an asset
  • Ability to teach French an asset but not required
Experience
  • Some experience teaching/tutoring at a Kindergarten to Grade 12 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills and ability to guide students' understanding
  • The ability to teach French is also highly desired
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
Responsibilities
  • Teach up to 4 students at a time

  • Complete daily student communication updates
  • Maintain a friendly and professional demeanour at all times (create a fun learning environment)
