Job summary

Government of Nova Scotia, Department of Opportunities and Social Development, is seeking an Access Support Worker (Part Time 50%) in Windsor/Kentville to support family access visits and transportation needs for children, youth, and parents. The role requires travel and a valid driver’s license, with duties including documentation and coordination with social workers.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved child & youth care worker diploma from a provincially approved post secondary institution, or at least two years of related experience.
• Experience in child welfare or other social services, including daycare or youth services, is desirable.
• Valid driver’s license, ability to travel, and access to a reliable vehicle; personal vehicle used for transporting infants and children.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of children and provide basic childcare and transportation services.
• May oversee contact between children and their families and support networks; document interactions and raise issues as needed.
