An educational institution in Halifax is seeking a Part-Time Academic to teach MGMT 5250 – Strategic Financial Management from January to April 2026. Job Summary & Key Responsibilities
A Part-Time Academic is needed to teach MGMT 5250 – Strategic Financial Management from January – April, 2026. This course will serve to give the student a broad understanding of the accounting and accountability of public funds. It will link accounting to public policy, financial administration and ultimately accountability and comptrollership.
All instructors report to the Director of the MPA Programs.
Qualifications/Requirements of Position
A Masters Degree in public administration or a related field and recent or current experience at the executive level within government departments is required. Preference will be given to candidates who hold a Ph.D. in the area of Public Administration. Previous university-level teaching at the Master’s level is required as is demonstrated teaching effectiveness at the Master’s level. Preference will also be given to applicants who hold or have recently held positions at the executive level within government departments and to persons with demonstrated experience and/or expertise in financial management in the public sector.
Experience in course development and teaching at the graduate level, with a demonstrated record of teaching excellence.
Successful experience in course delivery in a distance education mode is desirable, although not mandatory for participation in the project.
