A prominent Canadian university is seeking a Part-Time Academic to teach FREN 1008: Basic French during the Winter 2026 term. The instructor will cover foundational French grammar and ensure effective student communication and evaluation. A Master’s degree in French and prior teaching experience are required. This role is conditional upon sufficient student enrollment and approval from the university.

A part-time academic is needed to teach FREN 1008.03 (05): Basic French, in the winter term of 2025-2026 academic year (January-April 2026). The course is scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:35-12:55 p.m.
The selected applicant will teach the basic components of French grammar (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) to students with no previous background in French or who have studied French up to grade 8-9. As instructor, the candidate will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, test preparation, evaluation and electronic submission of grades.
Instructors are expected to maintain reliable and constant communication with the administration of the Department, to be available for two hours per week for consultation with students and to have students fill out the evaluation questionnaire at the end of the course. Instructors report to the Chairperson of the Department.
Salary Range/Pay Rate Per CUPE Collective Agreement
All offers of employment as a Part-Time Academic are conditional upon sufficient student enrolment in the course and approval by the University.
