Job Summary & Key Responsibilities

CHEM 2402: Organic Chemistry II – 1 Lecture Assistant – Winter 2026. Responsibilities for this position for organic chemistry instruction include working with the course instructors in preparation and delivery of Chem 2402. This will include preparation of course materials, including content video vignettes to be uploaded to Brightspace, preparation and marking of student assignments/quizzes/midterms/final examination, answering student enquires, posting to Brightspace in announcements and in the Discussion board, providing in-person tutorials/help sessions (up to 3 times a week) and exam preparation tutorials/help sessions (1 or 2 sessions before the in-person midterms and the final examination. This position reports to the Dean of the Faculty of Science through the Chair of the Department of Chemistry. In addition, the position may occasionally be assigned tasks in other courses.

Qualifications/Requirements of Position

The position requires a university degree (preferably a PhD degree) in organic chemistry (or a closely related subject). Experience providing teaching support for the lecture or laboratory in organic chemistry at the university level is required. The preferred applicant must have proven experience in working independently (as well as with a group), meeting workplace objectives and deadlines, and have a strong background in organic chemistry. The preferred applicant must be well versed in the course content for second year organic chemistry at the university level. The application package should be submitted via PeopleAdmin and should consist of a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a teaching dossier summarizing relevant teaching experience, and names/contact information of two referees, by the posting deadline.
