Job summary

Regional District of Central Okanagan is seeking a Parks Labourer to maintain and enhance RDCO parks, trails and landscapes. The role involves mowing, pruning, irrigation work, and operating landscaping equipment, with primary public interaction and a focus on safety.

Successful candidates will have Grade 11, 6 months related experience, a Class 5 BC license with a heavy trailer endorsement, and the ability to pass a vulnerable sector check.

Qualifications

• Must have completed grade 11 (or equivalent).
• Minimum 6 months experience in parks, landscaping, irrigation, or related field.
• Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license with heavy trailer endorsement (Code 20).
• Ability to complete a satisfactory vulnerable sector police information check.

Responsibilities

• Perform landscaping duties: mow, trim, prune, plant, fertilize, weed; maintain lawns, shrubs and trees.
• Maintain and repair irrigation systems and components.
• Maintain parks, trails, beaches and playgrounds; perform seasonal cleanups and basic repairs.
• Operate small landscaping equipment and machinery safely and effectively.
• Provide frontline public service and information; respond to inquiries courteously.
• Assist in safety inspections and implement risk controls in daily duties.
