Job summary

Irving Shipbuilding, Inc. in Halifax is seeking a student in a 4-year engineering program to join the Production Engineering team. You will support build strategies, 3D modeling, and production planning within an active shipyard environment.

Responsibilities include developing tooling, time studies, creating fabrication drawings, and collaborating with planning, procurement, and production teams to ensure safe, efficient construction. Full-time, in-office presence required.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a 4-year Engineering degree program.
• 0-2 years of experience.
• General awareness of shipyard disciplines.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn.
• Read blueprints and navigate a 3D ship model and production information.
• AutoCAD (2D/3D) experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support PE deliverables to back construction and changes.
• Develop jigs, fixtures, and tooling designs for unit builds.
• Create temporary services plans for scaffolding and ventilation.
• Assist with unit construction methods and 3D model-based sequences.
• Conduct time studies and assist BOM assessments to refine norms.
• Prepare 3D models, fabrication drawings, and work instructions.
• Assist NC data team with nesting, take-offs, and cutting accuracy.
• May be reassigned to different PE teams as needed.
