Job summary

Fraser Health is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Surgical Services PACU at Burnaby Hospital in Burnaby, BC. The role supports the multi-phase redevelopment project shaping a modern health campus opening in phases through 2030.

The nurse will provide direct post-anaesthetic care, coordinate with the interprofessional team, and participate in quality improvement and ongoing education within a large regional health authority.

Qualifications

• Clinical nursing proficiency including post-anesthetic care, critical thinking, and patient assessment.
• Ability to collaborate with interprofessional care teams.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Assesses post-anaesthetic patients by collecting and evaluating information, plans nursing interventions and documents outcomes.
• Provides nursing care per physicians' orders and hospital policies, initiating treatment when required.
• Communicates with the care team and coordinates nursing activities and referrals.
• Maintains safe, therapeutic environment and adheres to infection control and emergency procedures.
• Establishes therapeutic relationships, respecting patient privacy, dignity and autonomy in care planning.
• Prepares and submits accurate nursing assessments, diagnoses, and care plans.
• Participates in committees, quality improvement, and ongoing professional development.
