Position Title: Packing Shed Coordinator

The Packing Shed Coordinator is responsible for organizing and supervising daily operations within the packing shed. This role ensures efficient, safe, and accurate packing and shipment of fresh potatoes, strict adherence to food safety and quality standards, and effective communication between teams. The coordinator works closely with supervisors, staff, and logistics teams, balancing hands-on and administrative responsibilities.

Support Packing Shed Supervisor To

  • Drive operational efficiency and productivity within the packing facility, ensuring all processes consistently meet or exceed customer requirements and quality standards.
  • Support supervisors in managing hourly employees, including monitoring performance and attendance, directing daily work assignments, and providing training for new hires and cross-functional tasks.
  • Actively participate in the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) and collaborate with the Health & Safety Lead to ensure comprehensive staff training and adherence to all company safety initiatives and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with the sales teams to optimize production schedules and guarantee timely, accurate order fulfillment and on-time shipping.
  • Oversee and execute weekly inventory counts of packaging materials, pallets, and other relevant supplies, ensuring accurate record-keeping and timely replenishment.
  • Supervise quality control inspections, promptly addressing any deviations by implementing corrective actions to maintain product integrity.
  • Direct and monitor the adjustment and operation of equipment, such as sizers, washers, and scales, to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
  • Manage all shipping and receiving activities, verifying that all outgoing shipments are accurately identified, labeled, and documented according to company and customer specifications.
  • Oversee daily and preventative cleaning and maintenance programs for all facility equipment, ensuring reliability and compliance with safety standards.
  • Coordinate the filling and monitoring of potato storage facilities, maintaining optimal storage conditions and accurate inventory records.
  • Organize and manage the daily procurement and movement of raw materials from grower storage to the packing shed, ensuring a continuous supply to fulfill customer orders efficiently.

Required Qualifications & Experiences

  • Experience in the growing and or packing of fresh potatoes or a background in agriculture would be an asset.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Computer skills required (Microsoft Office). Ability to use basic technology (databases, spreadsheets, inventory management systems).
  • Must work with a sense of urgency and be comfortable in an ever-changing fast paced environment.
  • Must have a safety-first culture to complement and help drive our safety program.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills required.

Other Information

  • Flexibility to work past normal work hours due to production & shipping times. (Some weekend work will be required.)
