Agropur is looking for a Packaging Specialist to join its team in St-Hubert.
The Packaging Spécialiste will work closely with the Director of R&D – Packaging and Technology to develop and oversee packaging specifications, lead reengineering initiatives, ensure coordination between corporate offices and plants, and manage sourcing projects and supplier/SKU implementations. This strategic role contributes to optimizing packaging processes while supporting innovation and operational efficiency goals.

- Salary Scale 005: $82,600 to $103,200
(Base salary will be determined based on academic background, experience, training, and job-related skills.)
What this role involves:
- Develop and formalize technical specifications for packaging solutions
- Act as an internal expert on assigned packaging types
- Collaborate on innovation in packaging materials and concepts
- Analyze market trends and competitor practices to improve cost and efficiency
- Propose packaging reformulations and conduct related case studies
- Apply continuous improvement tools (e.g., problem-solving, root cause analysis)
- Lead or support Design to Value (DTV) workshops to optimize packaging design
- Collaborate with plants and procurement teams to ensure technical requirements are accurately reflected in sourcing processes
- Influence internal stakeholders to adopt innovative practices
- Provide technical support on packaging-related projects (quality issues, specification changes, plant trials)
- Manage procurement and reformulation projects while minimizing operational disruptions
- Participate in onboarding new suppliers and SKUs, including plant trials
- Define target costs to support procurement negotiations
- Contribute to supplier technical audits in collaboration with the Quality team
- Foster strategic partnerships with suppliers to drive innovation and performance
What you need to join our team:
- Bachelor’s degree in materials, mechanical, chemical engineering, or other relevant field;
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role within the food industry;
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials (cardboard and plastic), polymer science, and material interactions;
- Good understanding of product development processes;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both French and English
(English is required to collaborate with colleagues in other Canadian provinces).
