Job summary

FedEx Group in Canada is seeking Package Handlers to accurately load, unload, and sort packages by hand across various areas. The role includes training others, operating scanning equipment, and ensuring safe, efficient movement of goods in a fast-paced setting.

The position may require exposure to hot/cold environments and loud noise, with shifts that include evenings and weekends. A valid driver’s license is needed for some duties, and training is provided.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand and follow instruction regarding work duties and safety methods.
• Ability to discern numbers and information in order to sort packages correctly.
• Ability to use basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners, chutes and unloading devices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.
• PHs operating switching equipment must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.
• PH Trainer: Ability to train multiple peer PHs simultaneously.
• PH - Air: Training requirements including Airlift Consolidation Gateway and IAC training.

Responsibilities

• Loads and unloads packages onto or from delivery vehicles, trailers, pallets, conveyor system carts and load gratings.
• Determines the appropriate conveyor system by scanning packages, reading labels and charts, verifying numbers and memorizing information.
• Lifts, carries, pushes and pulls packages on a continuous and repetitive basis for several hours per shift.
• Trains other PHs on loading, unloading, palletizing, and scanning techniques as required.
• Regularly loads/unloads, lifts, carries and pulls packages while training other PHs.
