Job description

Part‑Time High School Tutor – Math/Physics/Chemistry/Biology

Location: Oxford Learning Markham South, 213‑5005 Steeles Avenue East, Toronto, ON M1V 5K1
Employment Type: Part‑time
Pay: $18.00 per hour (Probationary period 90 days)
Schedule: Evenings (4 p.m. – 8 p.m., Monday‑Friday) and some Saturdays (10 a.m. – 2 p.m.)

Position Overview

Teaching and tutoring students in high‑school mathematics and science (Grades 9–12). All lessons are pre‑planned; teachers receive complete training in the Oxford Learning philosophy and methods.

Responsibilities
  • Teach up to three students simultaneously at different levels.
  • Deliver instruction both in‑person and online.
  • Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
  • Fill in post‑lesson notes.
  • Complete daily student communication updates.
  • Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field.
  • Strong understanding of the current Grades 9–12 math and science curriculum (including Advanced Functions, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, vectors, physics, chemistry and biology).
  • Experience teaching or tutoring at the Grade 9–12 level.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding.
  • Ability to multitask and balance work with up to three students at a time.
Additional Requirements
  • Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.
  • Must be able to commute to the Markham location; relocation assistance unavailable.
  • Reliability and commitment through the end of the school year, with preference for continuation into summer.
