Job summary

CIMA+ in Vancouver is seeking an experienced CAD drafter for the Energy & Resources team. You will produce detailed civil/structural and telecom drawings, focusing on protection and control design, panel layouts, wiring, and BOMs.

Candidates should have 5+ years of drafting experience, AutoCAD proficiency, and knowledge of 2D/3D CAD. Familiarity with SDS, MicroStation, Revit, BIM and field visits is valued.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in CAD Technology or equivalent certification.
  • Minimum 5 years drafting experience in construction, preferably Protection and Control.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, strong 2D/3D CAD knowledge.
  • Familiarity with Substation Design Suite (SDS) is an asset.
  • Strong MS Office skills and analytical abilities.
  • Knowledge of Revit, Civil 3D, BIM or Inventor preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed civil/structural and telecom drawings using CAD programs.
  • Develop drawings for P&C, panel layouts, wiring, diagrams and BOMs.
  • Identify design clashes and resolve drawing conflicts.
  • Mentor team members and support project managers.
  • Coordinate with engineers and designers; participate in field visits as needed.
  • Ensure drawings meet client standards and requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work and collaborate with engineers, designers and other professionals in preparing detailed civil/structural and telecommunications drawings using CAD programs.
  • Develop drawings for Protection and Control panel/cabinet/rack layouts/DC Schematics, Panel wirings, network diagrams, grounding details, block and level/flow diagrams
  • Steel details drawings for the P&C and SCADA panels
  • Create bill of materials, nameplate, cable schedules and various structure data sheets;
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects to meet deadlines
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail ensuring adherence of our engineering; drawing deliverables to our client's standards and requirement;
  • Ability to identify design clashes and potential drawing conflicts;
  • Support mentorship training and guiding of other team members;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in coordinating with designers and project managers;
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to develop practical solutions;
  • Quickly learn and adapt to new software platforms, programs and client standards;
  • Participate in occasional field/site visits as required;
Qualifications
  • Degree or Diploma in Computer Aided Design (CAD) Technology or equivalent Certification;
  • Minimum 5 years drafting experience in construction and as-built projects, preferably in Protection and Control design
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD preferably in Protection and Control design ;
  • Strong knowledge in 2D/3D CAD and manual drafting;
  • Familiarity with Substation Design Suite (SDS) is an asset preferably in Protection and Control design.
  • Advance proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel);
  • Strong analytical and computing skills;
  • Knowledge in MicroStation, Elecdes, GIS and/or Navisworks is an asset;
  • Proficiency in Revit, Civil 3D, BIM or Inventor is preferred;
  • Experience in Point Clouds and Clash Detection;
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Vault is an asset
  • Knowledge in customization programming for AutoCAD is an asset;
  • Knowledge of Safety design codes preferably in Protection and Control design;
  • Strong understanding of preferably in Protection and Control design components
  • Experience reviewing site survey data and incorporating into design drawings.
  • Additional technical certifications or industry knowledge is an asset.
