Une entreprise leader dans l'aquaculture recherche un Manager d'exploitation d'huîtres pour diriger une équipe dans le développement des opérations de culture d'huîtres dans la région de Bear River. Cette position est à temps plein avec un potentiel de croissance intéressant et immersion dans un projet innovant d'élevage d'huîtres avec d'excellentes opportunités de formation.

Qualifications

  • Bonne capacité à diriger et à communiquer efficacement.
  • Respect des pratiques de sécurité au travail.
  • Expérience dans l'industrie d'élevage d'huîtres est un atout.

Responsibilities

  • Diriger une équipe de 4 à 6 travailleurs pour les opérations de l'exploitation.
  • S'assurer que toutes les tâches d'élevage d'huîtres sont exécutées correctement.
  • Participer à l'entretien et à la mise à jour des infrastructures.

Job description

Job Description:

Bear River First Nation has spent the past several years developing oyster farming operations in the Annapolis Basin, NS.

Work conducted to date includes the design and deployment of the infrastructure required to operate in the high energy environment of the Basin and gathering of growth / mortality data. The next phase of the project involves building out the farm to pre-commercial scale which involves the production of 1 million oysters initially. The Manager would be responsible for directing a staff of four to six workers to ensure all aspects of oyster farm operations are being carried out (eg. flipping, tumbling / grading, plankton tows, maintenance, etc.).

This is a full time, permanent position with excellent growth potential. Once the pre-commercial phase is complete, the next phase will involve gradually expanding production capacity beyond 1 million pcs per year to meet market demand.

Requirements:

•Relevant post-secondary education and/or equivalent experience within the industry

•Good leadership, communication and project management abilities

•Respect for the need for safe working practices

•Good computer and document management knowledge

•A positive attitude, willingness to learn and participate in training opportunities

•Ability to work safely and effectively in challenging outdoor weather

•Flexible approach to working to meet the demands of the job

•On water experience is an asset but not required (training can be provided)

•Oyster farming experience is an asset but not required (training can be provided).

Schedule:

Mostly 5 days per week operation but there will be times when working weekends and holidays will be required.

Work Location:

Bear River First Nation (office); Annapolis Basin (lease)

Position:

This is a full time, year-round salaried position. Starting salary would be $55,000 to $65,000 per year depending upon experience and qualifications.
