Job summary

Food Basics is seeking an Overnight Grocery Clerk to join our team. You will help stock shelves, organize backrooms, and ensure products are properly displayed and priced for our customers each morning.

You will contribute to a fast-paced overnight team, maintain cleanliness, and support inventory checks while adhering to safety and sanitation guidelines. This part-time role offers weekend and holiday shifts within a unionized wage framework.

Qualifications

• Stock merchandise and create displays.
• Good product knowledge and attention to detail.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Retail experience is an asset.
• Able to stand for extended periods and work under minimal supervision.
• Must be available to work flexible shifts which may include nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Unload deliveries and organize products in the backroom or cooler.
• Stock shelves with incoming inventory, ensuring items are placed in the correct locations.
• Face and level products to maintain a clean and organized appearance throughout the store.
• Rotate stock using the FIFO method.
• Set up and maintain promotional displays and end caps.
• Ensure accurate pricing, signage, and product labelling.
• Keep aisles, shelves, and work areas clean, safe, and free of hazards.
• Sweep and mop floors, and promptly address spills to maintain a safe environment.
• Conduct inventory checks and report discrepancies or damaged goods to management.
• Assist with additional tasks or projects as assigned by management.
• Adhere to all company policies, as well as health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.

This position is part of a unionized bargaining unit.The hourly wage for this position is starting at 16.90 which is established in accordance with the collective agreement. Depending on a candidate's relevant knowledge, skills, education and prior experience, a higher hourly wage may be offered. Any hourly wage offered for this role, whether it is the starting wage or higher, will be within the wage scale established for this position in accordance with the collective agreement.
