Job summary

Aviva Canada is seeking an experienced Ovation (High-Net-Worth) Claims Adjuster to deliver exceptional claims handling for high-value homes, vehicles, and collections. This hybrid role offers flexible work arrangements while ensuring a best-in-class client experience.

You will investigate, negotiate, and settle complex property claims, issue payments, review vendor estimates, and collaborate with internal and external partners to protect clients and uphold regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4+ years of first-party property claims handling.
  • Experience with high-net-worth or specialty markets is preferred.
  • Licenses for Atlantic provinces are an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and negotiate Ovation and high-net-worth property claims.
  • Issue payments to vendors, customers and experts.
  • Analyze estimates, value claims, and settle accordingly.
  • Review and approve vendor estimates for repairs or replacement.
  • Maintain relationships with internal/external partners involved in claims.
  • Coordinate fieldwork and manage field resources as needed.

The opportunity

Ovation is Aviva Canada's premier high-net-worth insurance program, providing specialized protection for clients with high-value homes, vehicles, collections, and other significant assets. We are seeking an experienced Ovation (High-Net-Worth) Claims Adjuster to deliver exceptional claims experience through expert claims handling, personalized service, and a strong commitment to client care.

What You'll Do
  • Investigate and negotiate Ovation and RBC High New Worth / RBC Private Insurance property claims in accordance with Aviva's standard methodologies and handling procedures
  • Responsible for the issuance of payments to vendors, customer and experts
  • Analyze estimates, value of claims, negotiate, and settle claims accordingly
  • Interpret and apply Aviva Ovation high net worth personal policy coverage related to the loss
  • Communicate policy coverage and benefits to customers
  • Investigate and document cause of loss and quantum
  • Review, comment on and approve vendor partner estimates for the cost of repairs or replacement of damaged or destroyed property
  • Maintain relationships with internal and external partners involved in management of customer claims
  • Acquire and maintain appropriate provincial adjuster licenses and align with continuing education requirements - where required
  • Be responsible for the customer relationship and outcomes on claims of varying quantum and complexity
  • Determine when fieldwork is required and co-ordinate the field resource required as well handle the information coming from the tasks.
  • Ensure early identification and reaction to exposures, recovery opportunities during storm and disaster events
  • Clear understanding of financial elements of the property claims function to ensure we remain financially strong and deliver year on year improvement in our business performance
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of data collected in Aviva systems
  • Identify and report on any suspicions of fraud or financial irregularities in line with existing internal and external requirements and procedures
  • Continuous improvement of customer experience/outcomes, indemnity and expense excellence
  • Measured demonstration of relevant Regulatory and Legislative compliance
What You'll Bring
  • Minimum 4+ years of first party claims handling experience focusing on Property Claims. Auto Claims experience is considered an asset.
  • Adjusting licenses for Atlantic provinces is an asset
  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior high net worth/VIP or specialty market claims experience
  • Experience using Guidewire ClaimCenter, Xactanalysis, Edjuster, Mitchell (Auto)
  • CIP or FCIP Industry designation or other relevant professional insurance qualification
  • University Degree or College Diploma or equivalent Property technical work experience
  • Superior technical competence in Personal insurance
  • Basic property claims scoping and estimating understanding/knowledge
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills - ability to communicate respectfully and compassionately and listen effectively
  • Computer proficiency; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Superior analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Bilingualism in a second language is considered an asset
  • Adjusting licenses for Quebec considered an asset

  • The salary band for this position ranges from $60,000 to $80,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
