Job Information

Reporting to our Sales Manager - you are an Outside Technical Salesperson that is responsible for generating new business, fulfilling product quotations and bid proposals taking into consideration the technical engineering requirements for the usage/application of the product. You have demonstrated communication skills (both verbal and written) to provide technical sales support from assessment through product recommendation and implementation. You work co-operatively and are a supportive team player, with the ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing work priorities. You are comfortable working with drawings, computerized mathematical calculations, and using engineering software such as CAD.

The ideal candidate will have credentials in Mechanical, Chemical or Civil Engineering. Ideally, you will have a background and experience with heavy duty general industrial pump systems, or other industries such as chemical pump systems. You have the ability to read and understand schematics and diagrams and have knowledge of commercial pump systems. You are “hands-on” and equally comfortable working in the office or in the field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Source and prospect new clients continually; conduct sales calls, including cold calls and lead and referral follow up to present product solutions and increase sales in assigned territory.
  • Support existing clients through site visits using a consultative sales approach.
  • Complete product application feasibility requirements for pump packages, replacement parts, valves, and other heavy‑duty products.
  • Work with Sales Team providing customer service and technical sales assistance.
  • Develop strategies to grow sales.
  • Conduct follow up with customers on orders, quotes and service requested; undertake activities to ensure the sale, such as sourcing of competitor information and analysis of competitor product offerings, application, and pricing in order to overcome client objections.
  • Develop proposals and quotes based upon client needs, specifications, and product offerings.
  • Work with vendors to ensure production schedules and deliveries are being met.
  • Work with external service provider for customer repairs and support.
  • Attend vendor training.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience with heavy duty general industrial pump systems, or other industries such as chemical pump systems.
  • Understanding of schematics and diagrams and have knowledge of commercial pump systems.
  • A Technology diploma or Degree (Mechanical, Civil, Chemical).
  • In absence of education, proven experience within the market is considered.
  • Able to identify innovative technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication, time management, multitasking, and detail orientation skills.
  • Effectively manages a variety of projects/tasks simultaneously.
  • You possess a strong drive for success, motivating yourself to accomplish tasks by putting in the necessary effort and finding fulfillment in diligent work.
  • You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) and can develop and maintain positive working relationships within all levels of the organization and external vendors and customers.

Work Environment

This role operates in a professional office environment. Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers are used. Occasional visits to warehouses or operational sites may be required.
