Join Ryerson as an Outside Sales Representative, where you will play a crucial role in our sales operations. In this position, you will source new business as well as collaborate closely with Inside Sales and Regional Sales teams to develop precise and strategic quotes and contract proposals. Your efforts will be instrumental in addressing customer needs while ensuring profitable sales outcomes for Ryerson.

The successful candidate must be located in the Saint John, Halifax or Moncton area.

Roles And Responsibilities
  • Quickly builds strong relationships with contacts at all levels across various functions within customer organizations, especially with purchasing decision-makers. Develops customer trust and confidence in Ryerson and its representatives
  • Develops target accounts accompanied with action plans to accelerate growth by gaining new customers
  • Handles inquiries and prepares quotations
  • Develops in-depth knowledge of Ryerson products and their applications
  • Keeps customers informed about industry and economic trends and Ryerson’s ability to assist customers in adapting to change
  • Understands and keeps up-to-date on the competitive environment and provides market intelligence to sales management to help shape service center sales strategies, price levels and working capital decisions
  • Increases revenue from assigned customers by increasing product lines or items sold and converting general line sales to fabrication sales
  • Involves service center management, regional management, Global Accounts, or other corporate management, and Ryerson supplier representatives in establishing and maintaining relationships at all levels of customer organization
  • All other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • High School diploma required, college diploma or university degree is preferred, ideally in marketing, business or a related field
  • Minimum 5-7 years of outside sales experience in the metals industry is required
  • Prior experience working directly with inside sales team members is a plus
  • Experience using SAP/Salesforce is considered an asset
  • Effective communication and superior customer service skills are required
  • Strong organizational skills and aptitude for math is required
  • Possess creative and complex thinking skills to best resolve customer's wants and needs
  • Must be able to travel and work in a fast-paced environment
